When Can I Use Waterless Shampoos for Dogs?

Washing a dog only sounds easy. In fact, if you have a very large, rebellious, or cowardly dog, the simplest procedure can turn into a challenge. Getting him in the tub, soaking his coat, shampooing, rinsing, conditioning, rinsing and drying him all takes time, dexterity and obedience. But what if your pet has to be groomed here and now? And what if there is no water nearby?

Water is  not the only way to bathe your dog. Waterless shampoos are really a lifesaver in the field or when you need instant results. They work with dogs perfect!

You may need such a shampoo when:

  • You in a show and your dog gets dirty right before the ring –  A little dry shampoo might just help
  • Going camping where your dog will surely get dirty often – A waterless shampoo would be helpful
  • Your dog got the ball under the bed and it’s all dusty and you’re going for a walk in 3 minutes – A little of waterless shampoo might do the trick
  • You have a long car trip with your pup and he gets smelly on the way – Waterless spray will save your noses for the rest of the travelling.

These situations are not the end of the list. So, you see, waterless shampoo is convenient and you’re better off with it. We’re sure it will come in handy!

“Waterless shampoos aren’t just shampoos. They also include waterless sprays and mousses. All of them help clean pet’s coat without any water, in any place.

Types of Waterless Shampoos

Waterless Shampoos vs Mousses and Sprays

Waterless shampoo is a special powder that you spread thoroughly on your coat and then comb it out. It absorbs all the dirt. Excess dry shampoo is combed off with the dirt. It is not necessary to wash the dog afterwards.

Mousses and sprays are special liquid solutions. They’re applied to the dirty area of the coat, left for a while, and then gently brushed over and wiped with a towel (or cloth). There is no need to wash out mousse or spray.

DeShedding Waterless Sprays

This solution is just perfect for heavy shedders. All you have to do is spray a dog, rinse him for 1-2 minutes, and then brush the access dead hair. Do it in between normal wash and you will notice that your home is much cleaner.

Rules of Waterless Shampoos for Dogs Usage

Is Waterless Shampoo Suitable for All Dogs?

Dry shampoos, just like regular shampoos, should be chosen according to your pet’s personality.

One important rule to remember is that “human” products are not suitable for pets. Even if you have the perfect shampoo that fixes your hair in seconds, don’t use it on your dog. You could provoke a severe allergic reaction, dermatitis and worsening coat quality. Choose specially formulated dog products. Professional products are best because this way you can be sure of their quality. Shampoo should be suitable for the age of your dog, his skin type, and his coat.

How to Use Waterless Shampoo?

Waterless shampoos and sprays are very easy to use, and this is their advantage. It’s enough to apply the product to the coat and brush thoroughly. That’s it. No need to dilute, time it or rinse it off. In this case, a dry shampoo not just removes dirt, but also absorbs grease, moisture and traces of urine. And as a bonus – nice and fresh smell.

Is it Allowed to Wash a Dog With Dry Products Only?

Applying waterless shampoo is an express way to clean your dog. It’s good for when you need to remove dirt locally. But for permanent care, your dog needs classic professional shampoo and conditioner.

If your dog gets very dirty and needs to be bathed completely, it is more effective to wash him with water and shampoo. In addition, every 21 days a dog’s dermis cells are renewed, and it is recommended to bathe a dog at least once in that period (21 days/month).

You don’t have to choose between dry shampoo and “regular” shampoo. These products are designed for different situations and complement each other perfectly. To stop worrying about your dog’s reaction, choose the same brand. They have similar formulas and work well together.

So shop properly and enjoy grooming. We’re sure your dog will be irresistible!
