In the German municipality of Lippetal, the staff of the rehabilitation center in the animal shelter cured a pet pig named Eberhard from alcoholism. His previous owners kept him in a dirty apartment, fed him chips and drank only wine, writes the Daily mail.
The animal was taken from the family by veterinarians. For two years they weaned Eberhardt from alcohol and restored his health. The piggy now lives with his new owner, Bianca Deichmann.
“Eberhard was incredibly aggressive, anxious and saw nothing but the apartment he lived in. But here he became a completely normal, happy little piggy,” she said.
Germans are allowed to keep mini-pigs in their homes, but the piglets must be insured and officially registered with the veterinary office.
