Sherry Lankston, a Seattle resident, stumbled upon a husky named Harvey on social media and fell in love with him. Despite already having a dog and two children, Lankston reached out to Joy Ollinger, a lieutenant with the San Diego Department of Animal Services, to adopt Harvey.
Ollinger had been sharing Harvey’s photos after he had been stuck in a shelter for months with no one interested in adopting him. Lankston and her two boys made the three-day drive from Seattle to San Diego to meet Harvey, who she immediately knew was their dog. After her husband flew down to meet Harvey, the family drove back to Seattle with their new addition.
Harvey was rescued from the desert with two other huskies, and it’s believed he suffered a facial deformity from being bitten as a young pup.
Lankston hopes her family’s adoption story inspires others to consider rescuing a pet.

Stanley’s story is a reminder that every animal deserves love and care, no matter their appearance or condition. It also shows the power of social media in connecting animals with loving families.
