Veterinary surgeons immediately operated on Bella to see if she had any internal bleeding after the incident in Yalding.

A dog that was taken from a moving vehicle was “incredibly fortunate to survive” but she is now doing fine and enjoying her life with her adoptive owners, according to the RSPCA.

Bella, who has been renamed by her new family, was found underweight, frightened and covered with a flea-ridden, matted coat by the side of the road in Yalding, Kent on 28 January this year.

Vets discovered she had been thrown from the window of a lorry travelling as fast as 50mph.

Inspector Kirsten Oderrod stated that her team was “amazed” she survived the incident.

“Bella survived after she was thrown from the vehicle at such high speeds. The vets were extremely concerned she might have experienced internal bleeding and performed emergency surgery.” she said.

The RSPCA launched an investigation to determine who is responsible, but the case remains unsolved.

After being nursed back to health, Bella was adopted by Gill, her husband Ray and their daughter – a family who live in nearby Maidstone.

Gill, who found Bella on the RSPCA’s ‘find a pet’ website, said: “She is really happy here and is always wagging her tail.

“She is a little naughty sometimes and can play-bites quite a bit, but she’s just as sweet the way that she is. “
