Coat is a protective layer that prevents the skin of an animal from being affected by the environment. Our pet’s health depends on this protection. But healthy dog’s coat is not just an indicator of his health, it is one of his most important elements. Proper coat care is just as critical as a balanced diet and the psychological comfort of your Beagle. The Beagle has a smooth, dense double coat that gets heavier in the winter, so spring is Beagle shedding season.
He has a very typical dog hair with hair’s own peculiarity – from each follicular bag along with top coat hairs there grow a few thin and almost colorless hairs of the constantly changing undercoat. The sebaceous glands ducts open up into the follicular bags. Their secret – fat – covers the dog’s skin and coat. The fat layer protects your dog’s coat from drying out and excessive moisture and has antibacterial properties. Hair grows to a certain length, dies and gets replaced with new hair. This process runs all-year-round over your dog’s body.
Don’t believe the common myth that dogs with short coats require the least external care. Anyone who owns a Beagle will tell you that “my Beagles is shedding like crazy”. They need to have their undercoats cleaned regularly and their hair is very difficult to remove from clothes and furniture as Tr–Colored hairs are not always immediately visible.
Regular brushing and washing is required only. Nothing supernatural, actually.
After this procedure our Beagle will continue to shed a few more days, but it will be easier.
By getting rid of loose hairs you’re helping your pup very much, ensuring a healthy skin.

The natural shedding is about 7 to 14 days. For Beagles – more days in Spring and less days in Autumn, as their coat gets sicker in Winter. During this period, you’ll have to work hard on your dog and, of course, clean the house more often in order to get rid of extensive hairs.
The problem with year-round shedding is a little different – it needs vet’s advise first of all. Strong shedding at the wrong time is a sign of a lack of essential elements, i.e nutritional balance. Usually this problem is more acute for pet parents, giving natural food. But there are also other reasons. Good quality well-balanced dry dog food is a better solution.

It is not quite important if your Beagle is shedding seasonally or suddenly. What matters is how to help your pup. If your dog suddenly starts shedding in the wrong season or sheds too much even for a season shedding, the best thing you can do is to show him to the vet. As this may be caused by one of the above mentioned body malfunctions. When you are sure that this is just a natural process, do regular brushing and washing.

FURminator is a tool for removing dead undercoat, developed in the U.S. by professional groomers. Its secret is in a special brush structure, which, without cutting or damaging the top coat, softly pulls out dead and loose undercoat hairs, which makes combing unusually effective. Curved edge comfortably follows pet’s natural shape. In addition, the brush evenly distributed fat throughout the hair, making the coat soft, healthy and shiny. The upgrade model also features skinguards, and the FURejector doubles as an edge guard.
After working with FURminator, you can also use a natural hair brush to smooth and shine the topcoat. And for even more shine, after brushing, wipe the Beagle with dry in the direction of hair growth.
Rubber brushes used as a washing sponge have proved to be very effective.

Vets recommend washing your dog completely no more than once a week and at least once every two or three weeks. The best choice – once every 10-14 days (this is especially true for dogs living in big cities and apartments). The main thing is not to forget to use conditioners to restore the pH of the skin after shampooing. Only shampoos and dog cosmetics that match your dog’s coat type should be used when washing. Washing your dog with just intense water flow also helps to reduce loose hairs. And combined with best dog shampoo for shedding – it leaves no chances for dead hairs.
Sometimes the white hairs of Beagles can change their color, i.e to become brown or pink. Most often it can be seen on the muzzle (near eyes), on the chin, on the inner side of front and hind legs, which is caused by moisture. If you wash your dog’s legs every day, naturally you can’t wipe them dry, so we recommend to use a hair dryer, if your Beagle has this problem. To remove brown spots we can start using whitening shampoo regularly. To remove brown spots on the face of your dog’s eyes, use special whitening gels. The spots won’t disappear right away, but they will eventually disappear with constant brushing and using special products.
The Beagle sheds all year round due its shedding cycle. In Spring and Fall he sheds more excess.
